Sept. 8 -11, 2011 International Scientific Conference on Pervaporation, Vapor Permeation and Membrane Distillation Torun, Poland

Sept. 11 - 15, 2011 XXVIII European Membrane School Smardzewice, Poland

International Scientific Conference on Pervaporation, Vapor Permeation and Membrane Distillation Torun, 8 - 11 September 2011
- International Scientific Conference on Pervaporation, Vapor Permeation and Membrane Distillation

Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to participate in International Scientific Conference on Pervaporation, Vapor Permeation and Membranes Distillation which will be held in Torun (Poland) in September 2011. We do hope that the conference will not be disturbed by any volcano ashes nor air traffic problems and those who couldn't attend the conference in April 2010 will join us this year. The main aim of the conference is to bring together all researchers, companies and potential industrial end-users interested in pervaporation, vapor permeation and membrane distillation on theoretical and practical level. This conference should be also a continuation of PV conferences which were organized in 1980s and 1990s both in Europe and America and the conference held in April 2010 in Torun.

Topics:

  1.   Fundamentals and theoretical description of pervaporation, vapor permeation, membrane distillation and related processes.

  2.   New membrane materials (polymeric/inorganic).

  3.   Applications of PV, VP and MD, including large scale, hybrid operations as well as small scale and niche applications.

  4.   Environmental impact and economics of pervaporation, vapor permeation and membrane distillation plants.

XXVIII European Membrane School Sept. 11 - 15, 2011 - XXVIII European Membrane School

On behalf of European Membrane Society and Organizing Committee, we would like to announce that XXVIII European Membrane School will be organized in Poland (Smardzewice) and will start on 11th September 2011 (www.emspoland2011.eu).

The official language of the School is English.

The EMS Membrane School is organized by:
Department of Chemical and Process Engineering (Warsaw University of Technology),
Faculty of Chemistry (Nicolaus Copernicus University, Torun) Warsaw Agriculture University. The scientific program of the School will include over 20 hours of high-level lectures given by the invited international experts in the field of membranes and membrane technology.

The following topics will be covered:
- Theoretical approaches to membrane transportPreparation and modification of polymeric/inorganic membranes
- Characterization of membranes and membrane processes
- Membrane fouling – visualization, monitoring and preventionChosen practical applications of membrane processes – state of the art and perspectives

The poster session for those who would like to present their recent research achievements in membranology is also foreseen.

The School is addressed to M.Sc. and Ph.D. students preparing their theses in the field of membranes and membrane separation processes. We invite especially students participating in “The Erasmus Mundus Master in Membrane Engineering” and “The Erasmus Mundus Doctorate in Membrane Engineering”.

We would like also to extend the invitation to the faculty staff, engineers dealing with membranes at the industrial level and to all who would like to refresh/update/upgrade their knowledge on membranes or would like to enter the fascinating world of membranology.

Participation in the school will give you a unique opportunity to reveal your latest research results as well as to exchange your experience with other participants and lecturers.

Co-chairmen of the School:
Wojciech Piatkiewicz (Warsaw University of Technology)
Wojciech Kujawski (Nicolaus Copernicus University)
